I have been on hiatus in the past month or so because life has a way of bringing twists and turns that distract and prevent you from moving forward. These twists and turns are often a testing of our faith as we travel in our Christian walk.
This past year, my husband has been ill. He suffered two strokes, affected by Lyme’s and now has an autoimmune disorder that it causing havoc and pain. The economy also has affected our finances which came to a blow in which we were about to lose our home and business. Then add to this trial, our youngest adult struggled with another serious crisis.
However, in all of this, many things unfolded in which we saw the hand of God in ways we never imagined. I came across the scripture – Isaiah 7:9 that says, If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.
Here before me stood the biggest tests of faith. Would I pass or not? I have had tests of faith in the past, but not at the extreme that I was being confronted with. Many parents today struggle with those same tests of faith when it comes to their children in crisis.
I also had to stay strong for the others around me when they were weary and weak. This is not to say that I didn’t have my weak moments. In fact, I did. BUT…. when I did, I quickly went to that scripture and repeated those words and to remind myself of who was really in control. God.
I started out by proclaiming verbally, “By faith, my house and business will be saved.” Then I added to it in regards to my child and now with my husband who is ill.
When doubt came from my family members who weren’t sure if God was going to answer, I had to step in and repeatedly respond, “By faith, God will…”.
At one point, my daughter asked me how I could stay so calm having all these issues facing me. My answer was that God already had the answer. All He required of me was to trust and believe in Him that He would fulfill what I prayed for.
23 days before our house/business were to be taken from us, God provided. Our house and business was saved and extra money was available to pay off debt.
Our prayer needs for our daughter were also met. Not in the way we expected or even wanted but in the way in which God could prove to us His unwavering love and faithfulness towards us.
We have one more prayer request – the healing for my husband’s health. We are looking towards our Great Physician to deliver him of his disorder.
The only way we will be able to keep our hope going is continuing to stand firm in our faith. Will you today, also stand firm in your faith?
Build Your House on the Rock
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
